Entered eternal life peacefully on September 10, 2017 surrounded by family at the age of 99. Loving aunt of Luann Ladwig, Nancy (Chris) Stolfuss, Donna Wendlandt (Darwin) Krause, Bonnie Wendlandt (Donald) Moldenhauer, Orin (Gloria) Gelhar, Lee (Diane) Ladwig, James (Elaine) Pretz. Loving great aunt of Conner, Jason, Jeffrey, Joanne, Julie, Kyle, Nicole, Kari, Kirk, Tara, Tyrel, Angela, Gregory, Valerie, Jarin, Narin, Lori, Chad, and Travis, as well as all of their children she loved dearly. Cherished friend of the late Rudolph Kubesch and his family Gary (Cindy) Kubesh, John, Jill, Gabrielle, and Noelle Urban, Matt, Meg, Catherine, and Madeline Feyen. Special friendship with Verona Guinn and Eva Stramowski, and other cherished friends, too many to mention, including all her friends at Palmer House. Special thanks to Doug Pruitt, Karen & Gordy Voltz for their time and love.

Preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Paul O. Wendlandt, parents Robert and Elsie Zielke Gelhar, dear sisters Marion Ladwig and Marguerite Pretz, brothers Donald and Raymond Gelhar, and nephews Dennis Gelhar and Loren Ladwig.

Dorothy was born in the Town of Berlin, WI, was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Berlin. She met and married her husband Paul and moved to Milwaukee and West Allis where she remained. She loved to travel with her husband with special memories in Hawaii, and Europe. She was a retiree of Allis-Chalmers, member of A-C Retirees Big Timers Club, Mt. Hope Lutheran Church, and volunteer at Sunset Playhouse for many years. She was active in local quilting groups, making many quilts for needy children at area shelters and child care centers, as well as for relatives and friends. Dorothy was involved in activities both through her church and at the Village at Manor Park, and had fun going to area estate sales with her friends. She was an accomplished seamstress and tailored many of her outfits, and hats over the years; being known for her fashion sense and well -coordinated outfits. Her favorite activity was time with family and friends, especially spending time with their children and taking them to special events and showing them a good time in Milwaukee.

Special thanks from family to all the staff at Palmer House at the Village at Manor Park and Vitas.

Visitation will be held Friday September 15th from 10:00AM to 11:00AM with service to follow at Mount Hope Lutheran Church. 8633 W Becher St, Milwaukee, WI 53227. Entombment at Wisconsin Memorial Park. 13235 W Capitol Dr, Brookfield, WI 53005.
