Obituary for Thomas L. "Tom" Beilke

Thomas L. “Tom” Beilke, 79, of Clinton, died Saturday, November 11, 2017, Veterans Day, surrounded by people who love him.

Tom was born September 13, 1938, in Watertown, Wis., the son of Frances (Dettmann) and William Beilke. He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1956, and immediately joined the United States Marine Corps. In high school, Tom played football and was a member of the Perfect Angels automobile club.

Tom married Diane J. Roeling on September 24, 1960, in Beloit.

Tom was a mentor to many and friend to almost everyone who crossed his path. He was an avid trapper and longtime member of the Wisconsin Trappers Association, where he helped many younger trappers learn the art and science of humane animal trapping. He was an instructor with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ Wisconsin Cooperative Trapper Education Program.

Tom was an Automotive Service Excellence certified mechanic, and retired at Frito Lay in Beloit after more than 20 years as a diesel engine mechanic. He mentored many apprentice mechanics throughout his 50 years as a professional mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Diane, of Clinton, daughter Dana (Kira Fobbs) Beilke of Madison, son Dustin (Maureen) Beilke of Madison, grandson Duncan and granddaughter Alanna of Madison, sister Darlene Murphy of Birmingham, Ala., and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, William Beilke.

A Celebration of Remembrance will be held for Tom on December 2, 2017, at Boxcars Pub and Grub, 108 Allen St. in Clinton, from 1-4 p.m.
